Description
Ridgeback Speed Hybrid Bicycle, 2011
The Ridgeback Speed is a popular bike - and with good reason. Few bikes at this pricepoint feel light and easy to handle like the Speed, or Ridgebacks in general, mostly thanks to the drawn aluminium frame construction and near-exclusive use of 'Shimano' components. Comfortable riding is assured on the Speed - the quill type stem means handlebars are easy to adjust for height and the general stance of the bike is an upright, relaxed and natural one.
The seat is a modern 'anatomic' comfort model, so is well padded and provides good support, perfect if you don't ride too often as the extra padding will keep you comfortable even if you haven't acclimatised to sitting on a saddle. Pedals on the Speed are large, with reflectors and resin moulded plastic. These provide good grip even in wet conditions and can take toeclips/straps if required.
The inclusion of mudguards and a pannier rack make the Ridgeback Speed versatile ready for action, whether you're venturing out in the wet or cruising down to the shops in the sunshhine.
