Description
Giant XTC 3, XC Hardtail, 2012
An Aluxx Aluminium butted frame built to Giant's race-proven XTC compact off-road geometry makes the XTC 3 an attractive proposition for fast, responsive XC trail speed. This is the entry-level model in the XTC aluminium range, so costs less than the other versions due to using less expensive components. The forks are Rockshox XC30 nstead of Rockshox Recon, but still use the turnkey lockout system and do a great job as a 100mm XC fork. The brakes are Avid Elixir, so again a cost saving that won't hinder performance noticably since the Elixir is a very nice hydraulic brake set in it's own right.
Since the frame and finishing kit are the same here as in the higher priced models the overall feel of the ride will be pretty much the same so saving a few quid by going for the XTC 3 could be a crafty way to enjoy the famous XTC ride quality and light-weight responsiveness. Makes sense to save up front then upgrade components as they inevitably wear out over time.
