Road Bike Fitting

Buying a bike which fits your unique dimensions is the best way to ensure that your new bike is both comfortable and fast.

Our professional bike fitters use bikefitting.com. This is a 9-point biomechanical body analysis system that is 'millimetre accurate' to determine which make, model and size of bike is perfect for you.

The bike fitting also involves an in-depth conversation about YOU and the style of riding you do. For example; the distances you ride, the kind of terrain you prefer and whether you compete or not.

This service is primarily for the purchase of drop-bar road bikes because the rider's position is more stretched out compared with other types of bike. Road riders also spend longer periods of time in one position in the saddle and so a professional fitting is vital to ensure a fast, comfortable ride. We take into consideration any previous injuries or problems that may affect your riding experience and specialise in helping inexperienced or female road cyclists into the sport.

Bike fitting is conducted at the AW Cycles shop by appointment only. We are keen to spend plenty of time measuring you accurately and providing expert advice on the bikes and components which are best for you.

Price List

There is a charge for the service, which varies depending on the level of service required and is refunded upon the purchase of a bike.

Basic£35.00Basic measurements only - excludes cleat analysis
Standard£50.00Includes full measurements and cleat analysis
Professional£100.00Includes the above plus extra in-depth fine tuning with the bike jig

If you are being fitted for your existing bike, the fitting charge does not include any resulting bike set up, which is subject to a standard labour charge.

Please remember!

  • As part of the bike fitting process, we need to clarify the type of shoes and pedals you want to use. This will involve a shoe fitting if you don't own specific road cycling shoes already.
  • In order to measure you accurately, you will need to wear your cycling shorts and a sleeveless vest. If required, we can lend you suitable clothing and you are welcome to change at the shop.

To make an appointment contact our road bike department who will book your bike fitting appointment as soon as possible.

Bike fitting takes place between 9am and 6pm from Monday to Friday, with late night opening until 7:30pm on Thursdays.
