Cantilever Brakes
Generally used for cyclo cross and some trekking cycles, these brakes work using a simple cable pulley system. This works when a cable is pulled and forces two brake pads to press against the rim of the wheel, thus slowing the wheels and the bike down.
Clearance In Any Conditions
The design can differ between manufacturers but they are all light and powerful. In muddy terrain, the rim can become slippery and decrease the power of the brakes. They do however provide great clearance with their minimal look and can cope with the muddiest of conditions. They won’t become fully blocked as they are designed not to clog up and slow the wheel.
