BMX Handlebar Stems
Stems designed for use with BMX bikes are very similar in design to those used in down hill racing. They are primarily designed for strength to withstand the big impacts associated with this type of riding, especially when jumping. Much smaller than conventional stems (normally measuring around 6cm, although they are produced in different measurements) this type gives increased control and strength, largely due to the fact that the shorter the stem the more robust the manufacturer can make it.
Image Conscious Design
As with all aspects of BMX, image is important and so they can be brought in many colours and are often signature additions of famous pro riders. The name on the stem can be all important!
