MTB saddles can look very similar to road saddles but differ in their hard wearing nature. They are designed to withstand big impacts, with strong rails and increased strength at the base of the saddle. Often extra padding or gel padding is used to provide some extra cushioning for the rider over the bumps. Many saddles even have Kevlar stitched along the sides of the saddle to withstand scrapes caused by crashes, thus protecting the leather from being torn.

We stock specialist Mountain bike saddles from well established manufacturers such as Selle Italia and Fizik alongside more specialist MTB manufacturers such as fate and DMR. Women’s MTB saddles are also being produced with all of the benefits and design features of the mens saddle, but are specifically designed to suit the different anatomical requirements of a woman due to the differing positions of the sitting bones. Instead of manufacturers simply making the saddle wider and more padded, they are putting a great amount of effort and research into the shape so that the pressure point are relieved and the saddle can be made lighter. A greater range is now on offer to give women the choice that has previously been lacking.
