Hydration Pack Care.
We strongly advise that you clean your camelback reservoir after every ride as it can be an ideal breading ground for bacteria, especially if you have been using energy drinks to aid hydration and energy.
After each ride at the very least you need to rinse the bladder out with hot water and washing up liquid and then rinse out a further few times leaving it hung up to dry (make sure that you squeeze the water through the hose and nozzle).
If you have left your camelback for a few days without washing it we recommend following the rinsing instructions but also filling the bag with water and adding a disinfectant tablet such as Milton, to kill off any bacteria that might have grown, and leave it overnight to soak. You can then rinse it out and hang up to dry. A useful tip is then to rap the bladder in a plastic bag and put it in the freezer so that nothing can grow between uses.
Camelback produce a special, cleaning kit that contains brushes, a drying rack and a disinfectant tablet that will make cleaning and scrubbing inside the bag all the easier. By following these steps you will stay healthy and not have to pay out for a new bladder every time you leave your energy drink in to fester for a period of time.
