Battery Rechargeable Lights
For a significant increase in light output, you will require an increase in power availability. Manufacturers produce a huge range of rechargeable lighting systems. Usually powered by a compact lead-acid cell designed to fit in a bottle cage, these systems will run one or two lamps for periods of up to five hours and some even longer.
Innovative New Technology
Thanks to developing technology and design batteries are getting smaller and the lights are getting more powerful. Most use 5W and 10W lamps to allow three different levels of light which discharge the batteries at three different rates. These lamps can be so bright that when riding on an unlit road and a car approaches they will have to be dipped so as not to blind the oncoming driver. They are a great choice if your regular journeys go through unlit areas such as parks and stretches of country road. Alternatively, if you want to do some night mountain bike riding and racing you can really light up the path ahead.
Powerful Lightweight Units
Companies such as USE are now producing incredibly small units with longer battery life and that add very little extra weight to your bike.
