UST TUBELESS - Universal Standard for Tubeless: Tubeless wheel design that offers optimum performance.
Benefits: Better grip and greater efficiency; reduction of the rebound phenomena for better bike control and greater comfort; no more inner tube or rim tape needed; fewer flats due to pinched tubes, or torn valve stems.
How: The tubeless design includes an airtight rim with a specific profile and an airtight tire, with beads adapted to the rim profile.
FORE: Drilling of only one rim wall.
Benefits: Added stiffness and strength 4 times greater than traditional drilling. The rims bend less, and lose less energy, and therefore are more efficient.
Process: No loss of material while drilling, and tapping the resultant tunnel for attaching the spokes or eyelets.
SUP - Soudé Usiné Process: The rim joint is welded and then milled.
Benefits: The strength of the joint is equal to 90% (60% for a pin-jointed rim) of the strength of the rest of the rim. This makes wheel building and balancing that bit easier and results in a wheel that does not shudder when braking.
Process: After bending, the rim joint is arc welded. The welded seam is then milled for a smooth finish.
UB CONTROL - Usiné Brut: The braking surfaces are milled to improve braking efficiency
Benefits: Perfectly parallel braking surfaces with brake pads in direct contact with the aluminum.
Process: After assembly and anodization, the sidewalls of the rim are milled with a diamond point on a digitally controlled machine. This gives a predictable braking surface.
CD - Couche Dure: An anodization process that forms a micro-hardness on the surface of the rim.
Benefits: Improves the aluminium to slow down wear from the brakes. This process also makes the rim easier to build into a balanced wheel.
Process: The braking surfaces are milled using the UB Control process, then given the dark anodised coating.
