Clipless MTB Pedals
MTB Clipless pedals can vary slightly in design but the principle is the same with a small cleat attached to the bottom of specially designed shoes. This cleat then fits into the pedal clamps which are sprung to hold it into place but also allow it to be released when the foot is twisted sideways. The cleats are small and on most shoes will be surrounded by the tread on the bottom of the shoe so that they do not protrude and can be walked on. This is most important when hopping on and off the bike on rough terrain.

Clipless Pedals for all Types of Riding
The standard name most riders use for a MTB pedal is SPD, but this is actually the name given to their pedal systems by Shimano. Although many cleats and pedals will be referred to as SPD and will look the same, they are not compatible. Some clipless pedals also come with a completely flat side so that they can also be used with normal shoes with the clip in side on the other side. These can be a great solution for those wanting to use their bikes for more everyday riding with normal shoes. For all levels of riding right up to top end racing we have a clipless pedal solution for your bike. Check out the range from leading manufacturers such as Shimano, Speedplay, Crankbrothers and Time.
