MTB Rear Mechs

Mountain bike Rear Mechs
The rear Mech or rear derailleur moves the chain across the rear sprockets or cassette. Fixed to the frame it works by using springs and is operated by cables pulled or released from the gear shifters on the handlebars. The rear mechs are sequenced to move just the right amount of space to change one sprocket at a time.

Ensuring Compatibility
Often specific to the manufacturer and the amount of gears that the groupset is designed to have, (normally 7 speed, 8 speed or 9speed) it is very important that the rear derailleur is compatible (refer to buyers guide). We stock the complete range from the Shimano groupsets, as well as specialist companies such as SRAM. This enables riders to replace or upgrade the rear mech on most, if not any mountain bikes.
